Parent and Caregiver Guidance

About Read@Home Parent Engagement Package

The Read@Home Parent Engagement Package contains a variety of practical guidance materials to encourage and support caregiver engagement in children’s reading activities at home.

The World Bank’s Read@Home initiative works to bring books into as many homes as possible, to help set children up for success in school, and in life. But books alone will not help children succeed: children of all ages benefit when parents participate and engage with children during reading activities. All parents and caregivers can do this – regardless of their own literacy levels.

Download the Read@Home Parent Engagement Orientation Booklet for an overview of the different materials in the package and how these materials could be adapted and used.

How to use these resources

Content is available in different formats (e.g., flip books, pictures, videos, audio, discussion prompts) to accommodate all caregivers regardless of literacy levels.

Download the Read@Home Materials Guidance, which provides practical guidance on the identification and selection of quality children’s reading materials for home use, and the identification or design of accompanying materials for caregivers to support children’s learning.
